Detailed Itinerary:

​

First start from your hotel in the morning before 9:00 o’clock and drive to Dujiangyan Panda Park. The drive takes about 1.5 hours and you will arrive at the base by around 10:30 in the morning.

​

Dujiangyan Panda Base is located 60km west to the city of Chengdu, although it is actually considered still in the city of Chengdu but not in the main urban area.

​

Dujiangyan Panda Base is called Dujiangyan Panda Park. It is located in Daguan Zhen near Mount Qingchengshan.

​

After arrival, you will sign up to the photo project first and to be advised on instructions and tips on how to “cuddle” a panda. It starts by 10:30 usually.

​

You will be given a uniform to wear including shoe covers and gloves before you sit beside a panda to get your photo taken. Your time of sitting beside a panda is limited to 15-20 seconds. You are advised to not to put your hands on the panda’s head and face. You can put your arm around its shoulder or close to its arms. It is essential to have someone you trust to take photos for you because the time is really short. You must want to take as much photo as possible!

After the photo, you have a window to walk inside the park to see more pandas in their enclosures before get your donation certificate. And then say goodbye to the pandas and drive back to Chengdu. You will be dropped off to your hotel or anywhere in the city that you prefer. You will arrive in Chengdu by around 13:00 although you can have lunch at the base before drive back to Chengdu.

Travel Tips:

 

1.Pandas are not aggressive. 

2.Any bookings should be done at least 2 days prior to secure the reservation. Sometimes this project is available in the afternoon as well but it is not definitely available in the afternoon. You can check with us if you have only limited time. We have up-to-date info of the projects.

3.The age of “cuddle” a Panda is between 8-80 but the children and the elders better to have company while doing the cuddling. 

4.Dujiangyan Panda Base is called Dujiangyan Panda Park. It is a panda base in the countryside near the green mountains. It’s a nice place to see nature and green as well. It is the only place in Dujiangyan that you can cuddle a panda.

5. Photo time with a panda is extremely limited so make sure your camera is ready and fully-charged. 

6. You also need someone who can trust to take the photo for you because your time with a panda is limited. If you are traveling by yourself, you can insist to let your guide to take photo for you. People from the panda base can take the photo for you but there is a worry that because these people have seen pandas so often and your time is so limited, that they may not be fully enthusiastic in taking good photos for you. In this case you can insist to have your guide to take photos for you.

7. The timing of taking photo with a panda summarized above is according to former experiences. 10:30 is the time you cuddle a panda. It is decided and regulated by the people of the Dujiangyan Panda Base. We (Chengdu Tour Guide) act as an agent of the base.

8.Please remember this is a small group private tour. You can let us arrange for other sites after the photo if you want to. We are totally flexible with arrangements.
